We believe that travelling directly with local guides is the best way to get a closer appreciation of the way the country lives. Each of our partners thus lives most of the year in the country where they receive travellers. This is the case, for example, of Mohamed who has never left his country. In order to get to know him better we offer this interview of our guide in Morocco. Below the video (activate subtitle for english), you’ll find the text version.
Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
I am Mohamed Ben Ahmoud from the Valley of the Roses, a mountain guide for more than twenty years. I worked for French and English travel agencies for a long time. From now on, I’m a business-to-own. Before being a guide, I was a mule and cook mainly during the holidays. When I finished my studies, I had the choice between becoming a mathematics teacher or a guide. I chose to be a guide because it is a job that allows a lot of freedom and encounters with others. And, for those reasons, I feel good doing it.
What to say to those who don’t know Morocco?
To those who do not know Morocco: do not pass up your chance, Come! It’s not far from Europe, different, exotic, cheap and there’s a lot to see.
Who can come? Can we adapt the circuits?
Here, we are very flexible in the organization of stays or people who can do them. In fact, we often travel people with reduced mobility or visually impaired people, for example. Everyone is welcome!
What about kids when they’re tired?
They can ride either on a mule or on a camel in the desert. That is not a problem. Everyone is welcome!
