Compared to hiking, the horse allows, among other things:

  • discover landscapes from a different angle, because you are higher than usual
  • approach animals that would not be seen otherwise
  • travel longer distances
  • create a link with his mount

What level for a trekking on horseback?

The level of riding requested varies depending on the stay. However we recommend having already practiced this activity over a whole day. Indeed, although the horse provides most of the effort, riding requires certain endurance. It’s not about having back or buttock pain at the end of the first day!

Where to go on a horseback ride?

Generally, where you can walk, the horse can also pass. So you can do it just about anywhere:

  • Sea
  • Mountain
  • Plain

On the other hand, the level required for riding will vary depending on the environment. For example, some mountain paths can be stony and steep. In this case, you have to be a good rider to stay in the saddle. After that, it is always possible to get off the horse during the complicated passage. Also beware of vertigo… Let’s discover some examples of horse destinations:

The star of the countries where the horse is at the center of the culture. With its vastness and low population density, it is possible to travel very long distances.

Georgia

On the edge of Europe, this country is a land of mountains with wild nature. If you do not know this country at all, we advise you to look at our article on the value of going to Georgia. Our guide has been criss-crossing this region for many years and will make you appreciate all the local flavours.

Torres del Paine in Chile

You can also explore southern Chile and its glaciers with adventure tours offered by our local partner.

Kyrgyzstan

And if you practice French, This country has the special ability to be both the land of mountains and that of riders. Indeed, on the one hand, the relief is made up of massifs at more than 80% (if you want to know more about this country, do not hesitate to consult our article on Kyrgyzstan). And on the other hand, the Kyrgyz people came from the Mongols. It is therefore a people of nomadic riders, so to speak that the horse is at the heart of the culture.

We hope this zoom in on the itinerant horseback riding will have inspired you for future unforgettable adventures!
