Nomadic trails in Kyrgyzstan – 9/10

Our penultimate day in Kyrgyzstan will be dedicated to return to Bishkek. The trip will be punctuated with several breaks: Konorchek canyon, lunch and Burana tour.

Konorchek canyon

Konorchek Canyon

Today Soizic is nauseous. She does not accompany me when we stop to visit the canyon. Only our guide and I will walk in the canyon to reach a wider passage framed by rocks. Some are so chiseled by erosion that one could believe that it is the work of Baroque artists! The progression requires hands a few times to pass natural walls of about two meters. We only meet a few tourists from Hong Kong. They will take the opportunity to seek advice from our guide. We stay about an hour on site to enjoy the different points of view. Finally we return to the car.

Lunch break in an enchanting setting

Meals in restaurants at lunchtime are not necessarily worth talking about. But the setting of this one was particularly nice. The tables are in fact arranged in a small alcove, and the alcoves arranged all around a flower garden. By cons, we did not take a picture … so you must take our word! 🙂

Burana Tower

Burana tower

It is actually one of the oldest minarets in Central Asia. It dates from the 11th century. Although only the lower half remains, it is still twenty-five meters tall. A staircase provides access to its summit. Around a necropolis and some foundations are still visible. After having visited everything, it is time to finish our return to Bishkek.

Family dinner in Bishkek

If you have read our previous days, you may remember that our driver had invited us to dinner at his home in Bishkek. After a time of preparation at the hotel, we leave in the direction of his house. Whether should I say the family home. Indeed, our driver being old, he lives with his wife in the house of their son. Himself being married and with children. The meal is delicious and very (too ;-)) rich. It allows us to share special moments with the whole family. After this good time, we go back to the hotel. Tomorrow is indeed the day of departure.

A golden guide

Our guide asks us what time the plane takes off. It does not leave until the middle of the afternoon. So we have the morning to visit Bishkek. It seems slightly bored because the circuit did not plan this visit. We tell him there is no problem. We will manage. Finally he proposes to accompany us gracefully. The day ends with this good news.

If you want to see more than the end of the trek to Song Kol lake , find the entire stay. And if you want to do the same, you can order it here.
