We invite you to discover this walk in the purple Périgord. Apart from the name of the village, which I already find exceptional, you can discover a magnificent castle and take a dip in nature. As a bonus, about thirty minutes away, are the gardens of Limeuil which offer a very pleasant occupation with children. But stop babbling and let’s dive into this stroll in Lamonzie-Montastruc.
During our walk, we have the opportunity to pass by a good number of fields. It is therefore the opportunity to appreciate the landscapes shaped by man through agriculture and livestock. We also meet horses and cows along our way. But that’s not all! It seems that the giant marshmallows are growing on the ground around here … Okay, they’re just bales of hay wrapped in their pink plastic …
And, when the field disappears, we enter the forest to discover its beautiful colors. Indeed, the yellowed foliage of an unknown plant or the superb shade of green of a fern, there is something to marvel at the simple spectacle of nature. However, even in the heart of the forest, man has left his traces. Besides, can you guess what these strange constructions are used for?
Finally, after crossing fields and woods, the castle reveals itself to us. The latter cannot be visited since it is a private residence. Moreover, when we passed the laundry hung from one of the windows (visible in red on the photo at the beginning of the article for the most curious). In any case, the building is superb and constitutes a magnificent end to this stroll in Lamonzie-Montastruc.
About thirty minutes east of Lamonzie-Montastruc, are the panoramic gardens of Limeuil. As their name suggests, the main interest lies in the view of the surrounding rivers, namely the Dordogne and the Vézère. Nevertheless, it is also a nice family stopover. Indeed, a game is organized throughout the visit to answer puzzles and other games are made available to the public such as giant chess, checkers, noughts and crosses, etc …
*: these are platforms for pigeon racing. The doors open simultaneously using a small mechanism allowing the simultaneous flight of the birds.
