We took advantage of a break in Normandy to take a loop walk near the Vire. This offers a great picnic opportunity and allowed us to take a breath of fresh air between two periods of curfew or confinement. We invite you to discover with us this Normandy hike in Condé-sur-Vire.
Departure from the Roches de Ham car park
Ideally located, overlooking the Vire, the course immediately delivers its most beautiful point of view. Moreover, during the first few meters of the path, several tables await picnickers who will want to enjoy the scenery while eating. It is also possible, when times are normal, to eat at the creperie slightly below. If the tables are outside (which we couldn’t see during our visit), the view is very pleasant. The circuit is relatively well signposted as “Brectouville circuit”.
Walk to the edge of the Vire
Then the path is to descend to the city. On the way, we pass through a hamlet where we meet a funny man… Even though he is quit a silent man, no doubt that he can make plants grow in his everyday life ;-).
Two kilometers along the Vire
Once we reach the banks of the Vire, we follow the old towpath for nearly two kilometers. The path is landscaped and therefore lends itself very well to bike rides. Moreover, these will be the only people we will meet on this walk, except for the picnic area. It is also the opportunity to see some moorhens and a strange statue which, from a distance, with its rusty color does not look very attractive …
Last part of our hike in Condé-sur-Vire
A good part of the end of the walk is spent on the road. However, these are country roads that are used very little. In fact, we only saw one car during our entire walk. The landscapes are therefore those of the Normandy countryside inhabited by hamlets and villages.
In conclusion of this Norman escape
A loop hike lasting about two to three hours with lunch break. It does not shine by the originality of its landscapes, but allows you to enjoy Normandy Switzerland very easily. Indeed, with the exception of a few slightly muddy meters, the paths are very passable.
