The Alps are an important European massif that stretches from France to Austria via Italy, Switzerland and Germany, as shown in the map below. At present, we offer itinerant hikes in the Alps only in the French part, specifically the Belledonne, Giffre and Mont Blanc massifs. In fact, we offer you a zoom on these three massifs.
Hiking in the Giffre massif
This massif is known to have housed maquisards during the Second World War, whose “tragedy of the Giffre” is a black episode. It consists of four parts:
- The Teeth of the South in the southern part
- Haut-Giffre, to the east, opposite Mont Blanc
- Sixt
- Faucigny, southwest, facing the Aravis.
It is in the latter, that our ecological trek is located.
Take a tour of Mont Blanc
Inevitably the most famous massif since it is home to and bears the name of the highest peak in the Alps. Although it is located in three countries (France, Switzerland and Italy), it has the distinction of not being inhabited. This is for the simple reason of the high altitude and lack of valley. Of all the treks in the region, it is obviously the tour of Mont Blanc (the mountain this time) that is best known. The latter will allow you to admire among other things:
- Bionnassay Glacier
- Contamines Montjoie Nature Reserve
- Trient’s Great Glacier
- Glacier Needle
- the Seigne pass
- the stop of the Posettes
- The Balcony of the Red Needles
- The Great Jorasses
- Arpette’s window
- Mont Blanc!
Walking in the Belledonne massif
That is the nearest massif to Grenoble, culminating in the Great Peak of Belledonne at 2,977 m. 60 kms long and 10kms wide, it is made up of numerous peaks, lakes, passes and glaciers. To name a few:
- Lake of the Seven Laux
- White Rock Peak, 2,927 m
- …
- Petit Doménon Lake, 2,380 m
- Lake of the Great Doménon, 2,385 m
- Freydane Pass, 2,645 m
- No de la Coche, 1,989 m
