At the end of the containment, we took a good breath of air with a new hike in the Paris region. This one is relatively short (about 4 hours) but quite varied. Indeed, the first part is in the forest while the second one passes among the fields. It also offers the possibility to see covered walkways (type of dolmen). Only one pass is not very pleasant. Start of the hike
The departure is from the Presles-Courcelles station. After crossing a few streets, we quickly find ourselves in the forest. This part is therefore shady and very nice.
Water points on our way
The hike allows us to admire two water points. First, a large pond full of water lilies and other yellow irises. Then, a lake whose name (blue lake) is not in tune with its color (green). This does not prevent it from providing a nice reflection of the surrounding trees.
First covered aisle and lunch break
We arrive around noon on the first covered aisle. It is a dolmen with a funeral function. Heavy stones are elongated to create a cavity to accommodate burials. Beware, however, there is no indication of the historical character of the place. In addition, picnic tables are available, so we can enjoy lunch.
Out of the forest and walk along the road
Before we leave the forest, we have the opportunity to appreciate what we thought was an old mill in ruins. With its tags and huge gears abandoned, it can make the happiness of urbex lovers. Then we have to cross and follow a road. For this, we jump into a dry ditch that makes us feel like we are in an arid desert. Be careful to check that it is dry before jumping…. my son finished the hike with mud up to his ankle for not taking this advice!
A straight line a little long
The road goes on and we must always follow it. There is a side-by-side so no danger even if the recurrent passage of vehicles is not pleasant. Fortunately, a nice field of poppies complements our walk. Too much for that matter, because it makes us miss the fork. So we’re going back a little bit in our footsteps to get into the fields.
A funny sign for a path
We pass near a traffic sign. On a hiking trail, it’s so unusual that we forget to look at the second covered aisle that should be there according to our map. Too bad. However, we quickly reach the last one that hides in the shade of a grove. It is the best preserved and enhanced of the three alleys that this hike allows to see. After a short “taste” break (it’s only 2pm!), we leave to get back to our car.
In conclusion
A very nice hike for a short day for the Paris region. As the loop starts at the Presles-Courcelles station, the car is not essential. On the other hand, consider taking water, sunscreen and a hat if the weather is nice. Indeed, the second half of the walk is not shaded.
