Central Asian country, it has borders with all the countries of the region. It is therefore logical that there is an important cultural crossroads. And this is not new since the country was an emblematic stage of the Silk Road. This already gives you some clues as to why trekking in Uzbekistan. And to get in the mood, we offer a short video.
For its cultural heritage of course
The Reghistan Square in Samarkand (above) is just one of the many monuments to see in Uzbekistan. Qur’anic or Medersa schools and other mosques are indeed commonplace. Add to this a famous conqueror: Amir Timur, also known as Tamerlane, whose empire stretched from Turkey to India where he gave birth to the Mughal empire. And you quickly get a glimpse of the cultural richness that the country possesses!
For his hospitable people
Tourism is well developed in Uzbekistan. Besides, if you go in the middle of the season, you will probably see markets crowded with tourists in the cities of Samarcade and Bukhara. However, the welcome is always warm and the security of the country is very good outside the border areas with Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
To get a glimpse of the Soviet period
Uzbekistan gained independence after the fall of the USSR in 1991. So we can still see the Soviet brand. Indeed, the Ladas are not the only legacy left by Moscow. The sumptuous Tashkent metro is another. Likewise, as the architecture of big cities in general.
For gastronomy
Like many countries in this area, Uzbekistan has had a history between Asia and the East. The result is a varied and pleasant cuisine for a European palate. Desserts are not well represented, but this is the case throughout Asia. Above is a photo of the national dish: Osh (in Uzbek) or Plof (in Russian).
What about nature in all this?
The country is mainly dominated by a flat desert (80% according to Wikipedia). However, the mountains can exceed 4000 m in some places. Even if this is not the main attraction of the country, it is possible to mix nature walks and cultural tours for a varied stay.
