The beginning
We are now on September 2nd and we start the second day of our trek in Chong Kemin (the third day of our stay so). The night went well despite the cold. Indeed, we are pleased to have duvets well adapted to these temperatures. Because at night, it approaches 0 ° C… After a hearty breakfast, we go back on the road.
A bucolic moment …
We make a first stop on a climax. We find there the guard of the national park with which we had dined the day before. As he had noticed that edelweiss pleased my colleague, he offered him a small bouquet. It also tells us that clouds are coming, and with them, the rain. Finally, she will not be in the game.
The panorama
We reach a predominant height Lake Koel-Kogur. The view is magnificent: on our left, the high snowy mountains, opposite, blue lake with its red banks of vegetation and finally on the right, the valley which sinks. Moreover, we take advantage of the panorama a moment before going down to the lake.
Lowering
The descent is done in forest mainly. A few drops remind us of the forecast of the guard, but there will not be enough to wet us. Our rider walks a few hundred meters in front of us and is waiting for us regularly. He is no longer on horseback and walks with flip-flops! During one of these breaks, he puts a trunk across the road after our passage. In front of our air of incomprehension, he explains to us then that it is to avoid that the horses leave again in the night.
Bad and good surprise
Once arrived on the bank, we have a moment of disappointment. The lake is still beautiful but litter has been left in large numbers by unscrupulous tourists … We have lunch quite late (around 15h) and the cold is already present. Then a headache breaks out and the cold does not help. So we rest a little before dinner. Later, coming out of the tent, we have the pleasant surprise to see that our guide and the rider have cleaned the area and made a big bonfire.
Warm evening
The heat of the fire and a little paracetamol are the reason of my slight migraine. So we spend a nice dinner by the fire with a nice hot soup. The stars shine brightly and we end the evening singing. Finally, sleep will come soon after this day of trek in Chong Kemin.
