That’s it! We are the 30/08, day of departure for our discovery trek of nomadic trails in Kyrgyzstan. Everything is stalled: the driver Uber (which I use for the first time) is planned, I have my electronic tickets in the phone and the bags are buckled.
To Roissy-CDG airport
Then my phone vibrates: Uber tells me a payment refusal. While there are only 15 minutes left before departure. Like what, it was useful for me to make the reservation several days before to avoid this kind of inconvenience! No matter, I start again with another credit card and this time it works. But I’m in a doubt: the application offers me to share my trip … But I booked the taxi for 2, and I was not asked the number of passengers … So I call the driver: everything is fine because I did not use Uberpool. Phew. He arrives on time.
Luggage or no luggage, that is the question …
We are on time at the airport. There, I know that I may have to pay extra. Indeed, when booking the plane ticket, I could not specify the luggage. Obviously, I can’t avoid it. So I’m going to the Aeroflot counter to pay the extra. Returning to the baggage check, the employee points out that this supplement covers the way but not the return! Not wanting to explain in Kyrgyz or Russian when I return, I go back to the counter to pay again. This time everything is in order.
The arrival in Bishkek
The flight with stopover in Moscow goes without problem, except one hour late when leaving Moscow. So we land on the 31st of August at the beginning of the afternoon in Bishkek. There, our guide is waiting for us with a smile and a sign with our name. Then we rejoin the driver to reach the center of Bishkek. Outside, the heat, the yellow grass and the roadside trees remind us a bit of the south-east of France.
On the road…
After a light meal in a nice restaurant in Bishkek, we leave for our guest houses. This will be our starting point for the first trek of three days. We take the opportunity to look at the landscapes and everyday life. Regularly people wait by the side of the road … the guide tells us that they are waiting for the bus. There are some great bus stops, but obviously, no need to be there. We also meet sellers of fruits and vegetables, as well as cows, alone or with a loin. In the car, lively Kyrgyz songs punctuate our journey.
Arrival at the guest house
We arrive safely at the beginning of the evening. The house is full of colorful carpets and very clean. So we eat and try to pronounce some Kyrgyz words. This will have the merit of making our guests laugh. Finally, we continue with a good night’s sleep to start the next day: it will be the first day of trekking nomadic trails in Kyrgyzstan!
And if you want to do this trek, you can order it there.
