This is the last hike we made during our stay in the Italian Alps. Moreover, if you have missed the previous ones, you can find them by following this link. The altitude varies between 1124 m and 1557 m. It does not offer any particular difficulty except for a passage where the path is particularly steep and narrow. You can find all the details of this hike in Valprato Soana on the wikiloc website.
Ascent in the forest
A good part of this walk is in the shade of trees. It’s very nice when the sun is a bit hot in the summer. The climb is simple, but constant for a moment.
Semi-abandoned villages
These are two highlights of the hike: the villages of Nivolastro and Andorina. Part of the houses is abandoned, it gives a funny impression by walking in these recent ruins. We will still meet some people on the way. Signs that places are always busy. The lunch break will take place in the first village.
A piece of Via Ferrata?
In the wake of the complicated passage, mentioned in the introduction, we pass on a wooden bridge above a waterfall. A steel wire is there to help us cross it … like a Via Ferrata air in very easy mode.
A localized tornado?
During our descent to complete our loop, we pass in between the broken trunks halfway up fir trees. Having excluded an enervated giant of the possible causes of this desolation, I imagine that a storm must have been particularly violent at this precise place. Indeed, the surface must be 100 m on 100 m approximately.
I hope this has allowed you to hike in Valprato Soana. On the other hand, be careful not to finish like the Pacman that we met … Ok, it’s a quirky mushroom … but it does not look like a Pacman having tickled a nest of wasps (see the photo gallery)?
