Hike in Plan d’Aups Sainte Baume

This time, I suggest you discover a piece of the Var through this hike in Plan d’Aups Sainte Baume. It is actually a visit to the cave-church of St. Mary Magdalene. We added a visit to the chapel of Saint-Pilon to have a walk a little more consistent.

The first part of the walk is to reach the cave-church from the parking lot located below. This is easily done in forty-five minutes or an hour by walking slowly. The path is wide and presents no difficulty. At the end, you arrive on this troglodyte church which integrates perfectly with the stony walls.

The second part is a bit more difficult. Indeed, if the path is always well indicated, it is filled with stones. Walking shoes or sneakers are therefore preferable. It will take another forty-five minutes to an hour to reach the chapel. It is located at the top of the hill, a beautiful panorama is offered to you on both sides.

You will not find a picture of the chapel because I did not find any particular artistic interest outside of its position at the top.

If this hike in Plan d’Aups Sainte Baume has made you want to know more about the cave-church, you can visit their official website (in french though).

And if you want to see other hikes we have done, follow the guide.
